Milton has roughly quadrupled since 2001, and its doors record it precisely. A heritage storefront on Main Street sits in stone laid in the 1860s that has been moving ever since. A dock man-door in Derry Green cycles every few minutes through a night shift and wears out on a schedule you could almost predict. A builder-grade entry in Ford or Cobban was plumb on closing day and is a few millimetres out by its second winter, which is all it takes for a deadlatch to miss the strike.
Escarpment Door and Hardware works on all three. What they have in common is that the complaint is almost never the fault. Somebody calls about a lock; the measurement says the leaf dropped on a worn bottom pivot, or the jamb racked when a pallet truck clipped it, or the rooftop units are running the building at a pressure the closer was never sized for. We measure the opening first and price the repair second, in that order, every time.
We are insured and WSIB covered, the workmanship guarantee is written, and every job is quoted as a fixed scope after somebody has stood in front of the door. On a multi-site portfolio that matters more than anywhere else: a facilities manager cannot approve a number that moves after approval.
